Whats with this function?

You can't pick any feature, or snap to any point of the verified modal, so whats it good for?

I was wondering the same thing....

I've found it to be pretty useful and accurate

for measuing the distance between two coplanar

surfaces ( the top of a wall to the bottom of a pocket for example).

I havn't had much luck snapping to edges, corners or the center of holes.

Maybe its there for future?

But why give us something that does not do its function.

I bitched about this when X was released because I was all pumped up about this feature. Needless to say I was disappointed with it too. It might work if your tolerances are +/- 1/4", but for most of us I dont think this is the case.

I just found a good use for it.

 

I am trying to get my center drills to verify accurately. Being able to measure the diameter as verified was handy even if it was only a "sketched" measure. Other than that I agree with the group.

Are you running Verify in solid mode??

Its very accurate when measuring the distance between 2 floors and less accurate going from wall to wall

I think it looses some accuracy if you have to move the model to select the second surface???

I just found the reason why it measures floor to

floor better than wall to wall.

There is a setting in Verify setup named

"Tool Tolerance" Its set at .008 by default.

I just changed it to .001 and ran a verify session.

The resulting wall to wall measurment were accurate to 10ths

I cut a pocket drawn 2.765 wide

with tool tolerance at .008 it measured 2.768274

with tool tolerance set at .0001

it measured 2.765072

How are you getting points to snap to for a measurement? Am I missing something?

I'm not able to snap to edges, corners or hole centers, but if you click on a surface, the coordinates of the click come up.

When you clcik on the second surface its coordinates come up, as well and the Delta value between them
