End Selection

When I'm finished selecting the items I need to do something with, I press enter, but this does not end selection?

Lee,

Did you ever figure out why hitting Enter didn't work?

Just to clarify (as others have mentioned), if you pre-select your geometry, then click your function (translate, etc), there is no need to end selection. If you click your function first, then select your geometry, *then* you need to end selection.

It sounds like you were pre-selecting and then pressing Enter. ???

Thad,

This all so new to me.

I did notice that my cursor highlighted my part all the time, even when not in a function.

I see what you mean, if I select the geo first and then say ofset contour, your in, right?

I thought I'd try it first before making an xxxx of myself.

I picked a circle, then offset contour, the chain manager came up and my circle became unselected??

jct jct is right. Not all functions work with preselect.

Preselect doesn't work with pocketing and I don't recall if it works with solid extrude. Our solids seat is currently at the other end of the shop.

If you preselect geometry and then enter your function and it asks for geometry, that's your sign that you can't preselect with it. Eventually, you'll remember what you can and can't. biggrin.gif

Then again, you can always NOT preselect and wait to be promted for geometry. Then you'll always have to click End Selection, where you don't if you preselect. Personally, I like preselect though.
