Machine Def. Question

I've been trying to setup the machine def for our vtl. If you are standing in front of the machine with the door open the turret is on the upper right. This means D+ on the monitor to the right. I have tried changing some things around in the machine def that came with mcx but the D+ keeps pointing to the left. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

that looks like what i want but it's not working right. that puts the origin on the wrong side of the part. i want my facing tool to go from right to left. it keeps going from left to right

Have you tried flipping your X axis in the machine def?

 

Machine def >> double click the X axis and click on the opposite direction for your X axis and see if that helps

John not to sound like a idiot but i have tried what i think you are talking about. could you please be a little more specific about what you are saying.

danm , i program a vtl and turret is on the right but with mastercam the part is on the left. i thought the same as you that programing the part should be as you see it from the control but its not. any way i have got use to programing it this way.

I have actually been programming it as a horizontal. but i'm supposed to be getting a trainee so i want to start him off right.
