Changing the default distance for Create Offset Surface?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I'm hoping this is quick and easy! I use the Create Offset Surface command a lot, and since X2 came out, I haven't been able to change the default amount that the command offsets the surface by, it's always set to 1". It doesn't matter if you use the command, exit, and come back in, it will be back at 1". The biggest pain about this is that it's a complex surface, so it will take up to five minutes to offset if I don't turn off shaded view first.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Mine always goes to 20mm.(Metric config)

There is a drop down of last entered figures but like you say it uses the default offset first before you can change it.

I'd like to be able to change the default length for a line perp also.

I've mentioned it before, but this type of error is equally annoying when using Offset-Contour. The default is .5. Since the offset is executed immediately, if you're working with smaller geometry, a .5 offset will error out because of overlapping entities. You have to OK the error just to be able to put in your offset value. At least it doesn't take as long as offsetting surfaces does.
