Machining envelopes

Gentlemen,

Is anyone aware of a way to set a maximum machining envelope,

that would generate an error code when exceeded, either in the machine definition manager or the control definition manager. We occasionally run

a cutting tool onto the sensor probe. It is not normally a pretty sight.

Thanks .

Well the only problem I see if you do not always program the machine from home how will that work for you to control the travel. Lets say you have 72" of travel and limit the machine it 60" but put your work offset 10" from the probe then you would still crash. What I would recommend is you draw the machine and make a template file. Decide up front where your fixture offset is going to be and then place the machine around that in Mastercam. Now you can see where or how it is going to run. Right now if you have X2 you can run MachineSim and see the program run on the machine and could make the sensor part of the machine and it would show you and tell you if you crash in to probe.
