solids related question

Hey guys, a quicky plz if anyone knows that would really really save me so much time. I have a part with more than 20 different z depths and its in IGS format. now what i need to do is create a male part for this... meaning the opposite of the part so that my new part will have a perfect fit with it. 'REVERSE' i donno how to put it so that i want to do is clear. now, is there a way in MC9. or MCX where i can do that and have the MC create the new solid file for me with few clicks rather than me doing dimensions and drawing the male part myself (where i could most possibly do mistakes as well this way). ? if its possible plz help.

hi guys and thanks for the replies... however i seem to be doing something wrong. I got the message saying that boolean operation will distroy target!! lol.. that sounded terroristic but funny to me.... anyone would be about to help? i donno what am i doing wrong? oh and the idea is what? i create a solid with which i submerge my part solid and i do this process? i don't really know what to ask as i have no clue what wrong is it that i am doing... any suggestions?

true but the thing is it DOESNT distroy the copy, it just gives me that message and thats as far as i can go. it doesn't performe the operation this is why i was asking if i was doing something wrong u know. this is what i did, lets say my part border is 2x2 inches; i made a 4x4 cube sharing the same center point of my part but deeper than my part, then i picked boolean, remove, selected my cube, then selected my part. didn't work, so i did select my part then my cube... didn't work either! am sure its me who's doing something wrong.. but i can't figure it out.

thanks man.

playin around with 2 solid blocks...I boolean removed them with no problems..UNTIL you have a shared face..for example bottom of block 1 is the bottom of block 2...are you sure that the piece your trying to remove is completely contained inside the other block?
