verification w\holders

Wow. I just upgraded to the latest maintenance release and now my simulated holder in verify is the correct basic shape, it's just terribly fat and shows crashes that aren't there. I use a custom 'holder' file for backplot that works fine. I've tried everything above with no good results. Anyone?

A change has been put into X3 to allow the shape of the holder to follow the Speed/Quality slidebar just like the tool does. The image below shows two views of the standard Mastercam holder with a 1" lollipop cutter. The one on the left is at max speed and the one on the right shows max quality.

Since I finally upgraded to X2 now I am getting the same type of holders as Beej and Axela regardless of the quality slider setting. Has their been a workaround found for this yet before X3 comes out?

 

Or should I just do as James suggested and model all of my holders to get them to look and verify round?

I'm talking about creating a custom tool with the holder as part of the tool. Not using the holder.MCX file. Sorry.

where do you guys save the tool holder.when i try to do this and save it to the tool library i only get errors and it wont save.also do you have to scale anything whether it be a tool or holder.

I'm still using X2 MR1 SP1 with a custom tool holder, well at least custom for me since I drew it, it looks fine nice and round even my custom tool is round. Square one chatter to much! [/img]

Have you looked in the help section it covers custom tools very well.

dolphin, The holders are in a folder in McamX2>mill>tools labeled 'HOLDER' I just replace the original holder with my custom one but I make a new folder and keep the original in it.

My HSK holder is drawn full size no scale and it's saved as an MCX file. Also draw it in the top view and half as you see in mine.
