Bolt Circle Strangeness

Hey all,

 

I have a series of holes that I have drawn in with the specified angles on drawing. If you noticed the Y's in the yellow boxes are opposite to each other. When I expanded the dimensions to be 4 decimal places, I got Y2.4375 and Y-2.4375 respectively. Why is choosing the round up/down differently with only 3 decimal places?

 

It's not critical for our application, but I would like to know why this is.

Maybe the rounding has sumfin to do with the quadrant its in.

 

Just make it 4 places and forget about it.

Rounds down in negative, rounds up in positive?

What seems even weirder is that the 2 lowest locations seem to have had no such issue.(X1.667 Y4.581)

That's because he didn't circle those ones.

It was prolly between 1-4 tenths, there fore was automatically rounded down.

What happens at 5 decimal places?

 

If you drew a point at an angle and distance, I would guess this would be a result of trig rounding. If you drew them at an XY location, this would be an odd (not obviously explained) result.

I would be curious if this is contained to my system or if this applies other MC users. Anybody else want to draw it up and try?

I will try in 5 decimals and see have result I get.

The holes that I circled in the picture all are only 4 decimals on mine. I set it to round for 6 places and it only came up to 2.4375. The two at the bottom that are 20 deg's off 270 came out to a 6 decimal place format...

 

Still is a quandry. Maybe I need to circle the other two at the bottom and they will change as Keeb suggested? haha Goofball

Anyway I got the same as you at 3 places, at 6 places..I get 2.437500 at the 4 locations you have circled

I can't duplicate your problem at all. All my dimensions come out correct no matter if I use 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 decimal. Sorry....

Randy, just curious what you have set for the "system tolerance" its in the "system configuration" under "tolerances". I also looked in the "Dimensions and Notes" but didnt see anything in there about rounding.

It was not actually checked off, Mark. I checked it and it is 0.00005 (half a tenth). Do you think could cause a varience like this?

Thats the setting tolerance that I have, but thought if it was checked and set to something like .0005 maybe that would be the cause.
