Error when opening a "SLDPRT" file

Hi,

 

I am getting an error when opening a SolidWorks file in MasterCam. The error is:

 

"Cannot find Parasolid data in SolidWorks file"

 

Has anyone seen this and know what it is?

if the SW file has no solids in it.. just surfaces, you will get this error... because

there is no parasolid data in the file

I changed the options to import trimmed surfaces only and still get that error. I do see the part in the preview window.

if the SW file has no solids, you'll have to

Save As .. iges and import that into MC

 

if you file does have solids try Saving As

X_B and import that into MC

what version of SW. i had to go to X2 mr2 just because i was trying to get a newer version of SW file. i got the same error untill i updated my mc version

i had the same problem. I couldnt find the "add on" for solidworks either.

so i went to mastercam.com and found this..

is a patch addin that fixec the problem

The swdocumentmgr.dll has become unregistered. follow these steps and you should see a screen come up and say DllRegisterServer has succeeded.

 

Open a Command Prompt

Change the directory by typing - cd C:\Program Files

Then type the following- regsvr32.exe mcamx7\common\sworksdata\swdocumentmgr.dll

 

To open a command prompt click on Start-open all programs-accessories-

scroll down to Command Prompt - right mouse click - run as administrator.
