3d mouse

I want to get a 3d mouse and was wondering if this one is a good one to get. Any help as to whats a good one for the money would be helpful because i have to buy it out of my own pocket. Im wondering if the space navigator would be good enough for me. Or do i need the ones with all the bottons on it.

That's a SpaceBall, they do not make them any longer, however production stopped on 12/21/2006.

 

If it is in good condition that is a great price for it, I paid a couple hundred more for the ones I bought new

I have one and it works great in Mastercam... But no support is offered for 64-bit platforms. I now run Solidworks 2007 x64 and it will not work with it.

There are so many to choose from. Im leaning toward the spaceball 5000. but why dont they make them anymor??? was it because they were looked down upon for some reason??? The only good deal i could find was the sb 5000. all the other ones were close to retail.

ok i think i have decided im going for the sb 5000 even though its outdated. I dont think i can go wrong for under $100.

I have 2 sb5000 1 usb and 1 serial, they say they will continue to update drivers for the usb but the serial is dead. It will not work with Solidworks 2008, thus I probably have 2 like brandnew for sell soon,maybe the 3D connex guy will come back around and offer me an upgrade deal, trade them both and some cash for a pilot or something.

They offered those deals last January, I don't suspect they will do it again

The higherarchy bought the new space explorer for me and let me tell you, it's worth the money. Expensive (took some convincing), but very worth it. Lathe....maybe not so much (unless you are doing work on a mill/turn) but for 3d milling stuff it's a must have IMO.

I just got the space navigator yesterday. The cheaper 2 button version. It is awesome. It is especially nice for my CATIA classes because zooming in on CATIA with a 3 button scroll mouse is a major PITA!!

 

I got mine for 50 bucks off of amazon.com.

well i bought this one for 90 bucks brand new. I hope it works good and saves me some time since i have to use my own money to buy it. Maybe once i get it and show my boss that it works he may comp me

I told the guys at work that i payed for it myself and they looked at me like i was insane. They said "90 bucks for a mouse." We will see who gets the last laugh when raise time comes and i get awarded for getting things done faster.

It work great for Mastercam, Solidworks and Catia. I have one and you can not go wrong with it. It will take some time to get use to it but once you that happens you going to think how in the world did not get one earlier. The drivers are @ 3d connexion make sure you down load the usb if you have a usb one. Also make sure you program the buttons to what you want to use them for it help on key strokes.

Could someone tell me what would be displayed on the screen of the spacepilot with Mcam X2?

 

Just curious, and wouldn't want something that can't be used.

I cant believe it....

 

The DHL guy came in today and i was like....no way it cant be.

 

I got my spaceball 500....hooked it up and what an amazing little thing....now all i have to do is get used to it and configure all the buttons....

 

oh ya and i showed it to my boss and right away he said is that for home or for work....I said work and he immediately said he would comp me for it. yaaaa
