Opening a parasolid without the solids option

Can a parasolid (.x_t) be opened in MC without a solids license? If so, will it still come in as a solid, or will it automatically convert to surfaces?

 

I currently have solids. Is there a way to disable solids temporarily so I can try this, and other things, on my own?

If you go to Start/Programs/Mastercam, there

is a new application called Launcher.

I haven't tried it, but I think you can

designate how your seat of X2_MR2 launches.

Yes file --> Open -->> change file type to parasolids, Options check import as trimmed surfaces.

My goal isn't to import a parasolid as surfaces, I just wanted to know what would happen if I didn't have solids and imported a parasolid.

Thad.. I think you can import and toolpath solids

but you cannot edit or translate them.

g-code is right. You can import them and toolpath solids without the licence. If you know WCS, then not being able to translate shouldn't be a problem.

i don't have solids. but i can import them. (as a solid)

can't edit, translate, or run toolpaths.

basically use them just for visual reference. like in verify.

Thad is right kaz, try again. My brother runs level 1 without solids and can toolpath them. He is limited to 2D toolpaths of course, but it works.

OK.. I'm at work now.. I turned solids off on my nethasp.

I was able to import a parasolid (x_ with no problem.

Files with solids driven toolpaths worked normaly

I wouldn't have know solids were off untill I tried to fillet and edge and got yelled at

you're right, can run 2d toolpaths

but can't translate or edit.
