I saw this program at eastech on tuesday...anybody familiar with this program? Any shops out there running this?

Where I used to work had this though we rarely used it I was one of the few that would even

try it out.It had alot of bells and whistles,better for design than cam.That was when I thought

I knew it all and was dedicated to smartscam,now that I am older and realize mastercam

is where its at.About 4 years ago,it may have changed since then.I believe they have a program called quick electrode or ez electrodeI would like to compare to moldplus.

I also running Cimmatron V12....very powerful.very complex.very expencive.Interface is like a playing a piano. Support Sucks..!

Yeah it looked just like you described it Kenneth, very powerful, very complex and very expensive. They wouldn't tell us a price...and no demo either. I watched it program a fairly large part with some complexity to it. About 36" x 8" x 3" overall in .01" stepovers in about 2 minutes.... if that.

 

Just wondering if people are really using this program and what they think about it.

A friend of mine, very independant type, used Cimatron for a couple years than dumped it for Surfcam. Now he realizes he should have bought Mastercam (which was my recommendation at the time)

HI.

Here in Israel almost everybody works with Cimatron.

The home price is different far less then MC.

And they have a lot of support here.

I personally used it too.

Yes this is very powerful program. And their new fully Windows API version Elite will be even more powerful in near future .

But...

I hate it .Simply hate it for 10 years used it starting from ver9.0 and hate it even more now.

May be for the same reasons that I so like Mastercam.

You have a 1000 possibilities to make mistakes.

I learned Mastercam by myself at home using demo ver 5.5.

No way guys for you to do this with Cimmatron .

I bet for anything.

After 6 hours starting from stretch I wrote my first good 3 axes program .

Try to do it with Cimmatron after 6 days - alone I mean.

Why I like Mastercam - IT IS SO SIMPLE !

you can start using it and slowly raise your user level higher.

the menues have their strait and simple logic .

If you don`t know where to find some command you know where to look for it.

And far less bugs .

And the code is far more accurate.

And they don`t have such a wonderful forum.

And .......

and........

And........

If you do not like all the clicks you have with MC, don't even think about Cimatron. You also have to use a 3 button mouse.
