Single level Merge

Can a single level be selected from another file and merged in the current file.

It will take a few steps, but yes.

 

Open the file that has the geometry that you want to be merged from. Then File, save some, select all from that level, and save to a new temporary file.

 

Now open the file to which the geometry is to be merged into. Use the merge function and merge in from the new temporary file.

Preselect the entities you want to copy...

 

EDIT, COPY

 

FILE, OPEN (the file you wish to merge into)

 

EDIT, PASTE

Want you want to accomplish can be done just like any windows program.

 

-Turn on the level you want to copy.

-Hit CTR+A to select all entities, or use the Select all entities function.

-Hit CTR+C to copy all that geometry.

-Open your next file.

-Hit CTR+V for paste in the new file. This will paste all the entities you selected from the previous file. Note there are options available to use when you hit the paste button. You can change the level if you wish, change the colors of the geometry etc... its all on your ribbon bar. Also doing this will only copy the geometry, not the toolpaths associated with that geometry. You will get a pop-up box when you copy the geometry that has toolpaths tied to it.

I will try the save some like Mark mentioned. I never even thought of the whole copy and paste thing. Thanks guys thatll save me a lot of headaches.

Ctrl A, Ctrl C, and Ctrl V is the catz azz when it comes to moving geometry between two instances of Mastercam. It can't get any easier.
