Bad trim surface

I am using X3 and i am trying to do a waterline hsm cut on a solid and i am getting and error that says .....Bad trim surface found --use analyze test surfaces/check model to find others .... but when i go to analyze , test surfaces and solids, check models it tells me no errors found any help on how to fix this would be great

i get this once on a while.

 

My solution is to convert it to surfaces.

If you still get the warning, it asks if you would like to change the color of the bad surface. Choose yes. then select it by color and see what it looks like. For me it is always so small that I just delete it. You may have to do this a few times.

then can i change it back to a solid or do i us the surfaces to machine the part?

I just use the surfaces after.

i did that and delete 4 of the 5 problems but the last surface is a huge one that i kinda need what would you suggest i do now?

The only thing I can think of is to run the surface test tools in analyze and see if you can fix it that way.

 

Maybe send it to QC and see what they say.

 

Sorry I can't help on that one, as I have never run in to that kind of problem.

try to create just that 1 surface from the solid. i get that a lot when i make all the surfaces at once.

create curves on surface edges surrounding the bad surface. Untrim bad surface. Re-trim bad surface to curves.

 

Or

 

Create a Net Surface from the edge curves.

i am trying to recreate the surface i need and it is basically a flat surface with a bunch of .08 slots trimmed out of it but the surface wont trim out right it cuts off big sections of the surface any suggestions would be great or if someone has time to take a look at it for me i would appreciate it

If it is flat, did you try a flat boundary surface? You can nest chains to leave slots and holes open.

If it is "flat", you might have some boundary chains that aren't flat by a tiny amount.

 

Try using Xform Project to project the chains to a flat plane, then use create flat boundary surface...
