Tool numbers sequentially

has anybody been having problems with this. it works but my first tool always starts at tool #2 then #1 ,#3 and so on. do i have something set wrong somewhere that it wont start at tool 1 first?

Right click in the ops manager and select "Edit selected operations" Make sure you have the ops you want renumbered checked first. Then select "Renumber tools" and you should be good to go.

so when i bring in a tool from my toolbox folder it wont start at tool 1 i have to renumber? so what would be the point of having "Tool numbers sequentially" checked. i have been setting it to tool 1 by hand before i close the tool manager.

have you seen the same thing?

I see it too, I think it's a known bug that CNC is working on.

I'm currently running a Beta on X3, and it works fine. Can't remember if I tried it in the first X3 release.

i was playing around with this and if my tool number in the toolbox folder is #2 then it starts at tool #1

Had trouble when I 1st started with X3........... worked on some settings..............no problem since.

This may not be what you're looking for but...

 

From the op manager open the "Properties" tree... Enter the "Files" Section. From there go to the "Operation Defaults" section and click the exclamation point. This will open the "Edit Operation Defaults" window. In there you have another "Properties" tree... From there, go into the "Tools" section and change your settings.

 

We had some luck with changing our defaults this way... hope that helps.

thanks for the reply my defaults are working good

i just want to start at tool #1 from my tool manager

no matter what the tool manager number is(new program) say 1/2 spot drill is tool 12 in the tool manager when i double click it to use it. it changes to tool #2 not #1. but if its set to tool #2 (1/2 spot)in the manager then it will start at tool #1

Our three seats here do the same thing since we installed x3. it doese get annoying at times.

yes it does! we dont leave any tools in the machines so we always start at tool 1 for the next job

Do a search, it was dicussed a few weeks ago.

I personally dont see this.

I have been using X3 on about 5 different PCs also.

and set it to "add to tool", length 0, diameter 0

That was logged on 8/21/08 as # CNC 00038551.

The workaround is...

Renumber tools and save file,then,reopen file.

Tools are in correct order.
