Unigraphics Model

We got a unigraphics .prt file from a customer for quoting. However, we do not have the translator to bring the file into Mastercam. The customer said their engineering Dept may be able to get us a .sat file of the model but it will take a while (as it goes through their channels). I was wondering if someone could help me out and convert the file to MCX or .sat? If so, I could upload it to the FTP.

We have a solution for this and you should give our product a try. Email me and I will have someone contact you about it if you are interested.

Ask the customer to send you parasolid files the next time around. They will translate great. Do it here all the time.

This model is from a potential customer. If we do begin doing business with them, we'll either get a translator or see if they can send them in a different format such as .sat.

Ron, when did you make the move to Verisurf? You working with Tim Martinez over there? He was here about 9 months ago doing training for us. He's a good guy. Very helpful. As for the add on, with things the way they are right now I know we probably won't be into any purchases unless we have to. You could have your people contact our people if you like though so we have an idea. We should be on your list...

Rick, I came over here last month Part time 2 days a week. Still working at my other job, just there 3 days a week and over here 2 days a week. I will tell the area rep to contact you guys so you have an idea encase it becomes something that can be done down the road. Tim is great to work with.

 

Being in the industry for a while there are a lot of legacy files that are UG. The big companies take forever to get you a translation and having the tools at your company to see files without having to jump through hoops is huge.

Please ask for Parasolid X_T or X_B, not SAT. UG, like Mastercam, is a Parasolid-based modeler so you'll have a much better success rate on brining the UG data to Mastercam.

Pete, If we go farther with them, I'll make sure our sales dept. asks for the X_T or X_B instead of the sat. I want this to work as easily as possible. However, more than likely we'll look into a translator so they can leave their files in their native format and we can just import them.
