Menu Hot Keys

To use the hot keys for the Menu selections, you first have to press the alt key. Is it possible to set the default so the hot keys are always showing so that I don't have to press the alt key everytime?

Right click in the graphics area and trun on Power Keys..

also an X, X2,X3 tip

to select a chain hold down the shift key and left click the first entity of the chain

But what I wanted to find out is if you can set the system to default so you don't have to press the alt key to use the hot keys on the main menu selections. ex: press x then t to xform, translate. Now you have to press alt then x then t to xform translate. The extra key press is not a big deal, just asking.

I don't know of a way to turn off the ALT key,

but once a command is open the ALT key is not needed to use that command's hot keys.

For example.. launch the Trim command with the icon

the hot keys 1,2,3,d,t and b all work without the

ALT.

the same works for the Line endpoints command

h and v will switch bewteen horizontal and vertical ( or turn them off)

If Horizontal is active, hitting H will turn it off

The reason you have to press "Alt" first is that there are autocursor commands that have shortcut keys that would conflict. I asked about this when X first came out.

 

If you go into "Create Line Endpoints" for example, you can press "X", "Y", or "Z" and Mastercam's focus will jump up to the XYZ data entry fields.

 

The short answer is that you just have to get used to pressing "Alt" now to invoke the menu shortcuts...

I wasn't aware of all the shortcut keys inside functions. I thought just the menu's had them and didn't look.

We also attended the Tech Expo. Well worth the time invested.

I have power keys on but I am not able to select a chain by using shift/left click(very annoying). I have just started trying out X3 and it just doesn't work for me, it did and still does in X2-mr2. Is it just me or are there others out there with this problem.

I cannot chain thru an arc, I can power key chain lnes not connected with arcs.(simple rectangle for example)

That one still works for me. The shift left click that is.

Shift/select chain with left click is

working fine for me in X3.

I have no idea why its not working for you

and can think of only one setting that

might affect that function.

Do you have

Settings/Config/Screen/Autohightlight turned on?

A little update. I can chain thru an arc provided that it is .0034 rad. or larger. I have used .003 rad forever on outside corners, but now it doesn't work. I checked the system config settings under tolerances and they all match.

power keys seem to mess up my regular key functions such as (M) for move and (T) for translate so I find myself never using them..
