reverse G-Code to geometry

Hi guys, i have searched thru the forums for something more recent and have not come across anything. Basically i have about 600 points that i am drilling but the catch is that i do not have a mastercam file for them. I am using a third party software that creates points (x and y) from a picture and i copy and paste that into a simple gcode sample and i run the part that way, but now the boss is wanting to see something on the mastercam backplot. So i was looking for a way to create geo from gcode, any suggestions would be helpful. I dont think i want to install mcam 9 if i dont have too, but i read that it could do it. Thanks again

NCPlot can save a backplot as a DXF, which you can then load into Mastercam. You can get a free demo at www.NCPlot.com. The demo is fully functional for a limited time.

Even to do it directly you shouldn't need to go back to version 9. X4 can read a .txt or .csv file, you'd just have to format it right.

CIMCO Edit can also do it Backplot - Export as DXF. Trial version available from www.cimco-software.com

I don't believe V9 had the reverse post......I believe you would have to go back to V7......

there is a V9 c-hook for mill,lathe and wire.

i just had to use it for a old job where all i had was the nc file.

ya.... there are perks for having a the old versions installed...

If your other software is outputing x and y coordinates as txt, open them in excel.

Format excel so all the X's are in one column and all Y's are in the other.

Then save as CSV format.

Now in mastercam, merge that CSV file in.

All your points are now on screen.

open file type - ascii, can be *.txt *.cvs or *.doc but does need to be in X Y Z columns
