Thru Spindle Coolant

We have an older Daewoo VMC with thru spindle coolant and there is a lag time for the coolant to come on. The issue is that the tool is in the cut most times before the coolant comes on. I manually edit the g-code to put a 5 second dwell after the M7 command. Does anyone know how I can configure my post processor to post the program with the dwell in there for the M7 thru spindle coolant only?

I would create a MACRO in your machine as follows,

O9007(CTS MACRO)

M7

G4X5.0

M99

%

 

Then change parameter #6077 to be 7

 

and you're off to the races.

Right after your post turns on the coolant, you can put something like this...

JMC, that would put it in on EVERY coolant on command. NOT what he wanted. "Only when CTS is commanded".

hmmm...that is exactly how I have my post setup to do it.

 

coolant$ = 3 means thru spindle coolant (using v9 coolant)

 

I use it alot for doing things like setting switches for doing an air purge, dwelling before cutting with CTS, turning on CTS before the spindle, ect.

Kind of off topic, but you might want to add a check valve into your coolant line to prevent drain-back to the tank.

I would just move the coolant on command up to where it cuts on in the first line of the code. That way you don't waste 5 seconds in every program. Unless your machine is very small by the time the spindle comes up to speed and tool rapids over to part the coolant should have caught up.
