MasterCam viewing stations

just wonder if there is such a thing? I have my seat and was wondering is there a way to have a computer beside the machines that allow the operators to view programs in mastercam without buying another seat.

X4 Home Learning Edition is free. You'll be able to "see" the part programs, verify them, etc. You have to re-install it every six months and it times out in 2011.

You can get a seat of Design LT. It's cheep. You can view your programs but you can't do anything but wireframe drawings with it. Just ask your reseller about it.

As Mastercam Guru stated, get HLE from your reseller. It's free and will do exactly what you're looking for.

CimcoEdit backplot works pretty well, but the Mastercam 'home edition' has the added feature [or at least used to] that you cannot save a file; this is handy to prevent unauthorized people from screwing something up and saving it.

X4 Home Learning Edition is actually for learning at HOME.

 

Is legal to use it for see MCX files at work?

 

In former times I use MCX3 Demo version. In my understanding this was ok. Was not developed for home use.

But in the license agreement for MCX4 HLE you cann read that this is only for home use.

The HLE version saves in .emcx format. You won't be able to open that file on an industrial seat of mastercam. The e stands for educational and is in place so that college students can do their lab assignments at home and save their work to turn in to the instructor.

AutoCAD became the most popular CAD software (Far from the best) since users could obtain bootleg copies with ease. And after those users learned the software most of them eventually purchased the software when in industrial settings.

 

Pretty good marketing plan, and I am sure it was by design...

The dimensioning has always been crippled in the demo versions. Needs to be as is because people wouldn't need the Design LT or Design seats. Even though Chris Bell stated the use in a shop is OK, I'd suggest reading the license statement.

It's not meant to replace real seats in the classroom, but to allow students to become more proficient while there.
