new high speed leftover path

I hope for christmas that mastercam will develop a new high speed leftover toolpath. Now I know that there is a regular leftover path but if there is anyone out there who could agree that it leaves much to be desired. The regular path makes a very jagged toolpath especially at shallow angles. And I know that someone is going to reply that I should be using the new filtering, AND I HAVE!, with no success. I can program a leftover path at 60ipm and if I am lucky it will only get up to 15ipm because of all the directional changes. This wears the hell out of my tool as well as costs time.

I use the High Speed Rest Rough toolpath several times a day...I has always performed flawlessly (IF I program it right) My feeds range from 80 to 150 IPM with a variety of tools.....

I am machining electrodes and I am finshing concave .02 contoured radii with a .031 ball end mill. I am removing the leftover stock from the .062 ball endmill.

hst pencil multipass should hit it easy. add overthickness maybe if needed. Alternately could try turning on the restmilling button in the pencil toolpath.

Depending on the shape of the part...HST Pencil could be an alternative

Well then instead of making a new toolpath, maybe they should fix the pencil path. It does not work well or at all some times on those small radii. When you use a small cutter with negitive stock for overburn and there is a radius in the corner mastercam doesnt even spit out a toolpath overthickness or not.

Pencil has worked for me every single time I've used it, EXACTLY the way I expected to work. I'm not saying anything, I'm just sayin', that's all.

 

I do believe you need to have a corner radius greater than or equal to the amount you want to overburn.

Are you adding enough overthickness? Sometimes you really have to play with it but at some point you will hit values where it will see the crotch and cut like a dream. Don't forget multipass (if needed).

What about to scale the model for overburn, so you don't have to use negative stock ?

But HS pensil toolpath not working good if cutter rad is smaller then rad on model ,thats true. So there is no real HS leftover toolpath.
