accidently overwriting a file

Is there anyway to recover a file that has been accidently overwritten? I had a mental melt down and I was trying to open a file that hasn't been opened in quite some time, so rather than clicking file open I cliked file save as and saved the current document that was on the screen over another document. Hope this makes sense and really hope there is a fix!!

Possibly, if you have backup files enabled.

I enabled the auto-backup about 2 months ago. The file I over-wrote was created about a year ago. I think I am S.O.L.

Do you backup up your computer/server? If not you should start.

Yes, we have an auto backup of our server and our personal computers everyday.

I would try to get to that auto backup on your server before it auto backs up again.

Yet another reason why it makes more sense to save your files on your network server (which in most cases is backed up daily). That way you call IT and say...."please restore file: xxxxxx.mcx"

The back up on the server has save my can a few times, also.

System restore is my friend. FileScavenger is also very good to recover deleted files from your HDD providing you haven't save data over it already.
