O/T Makino bed coolant

Hey guys,

Does anyone know if it is possible to turn off the bed coolant on a A51 while it's running? We are having major foaming problems because of the pressure this thing shoots the coolant and we're trying to run parts until we are supplied different coolant. Doing small aluminum parts so chip buildup in the bottom of the machine is not an issue. So far when ever machine is in cycle, bed coolant is on.

Does the same pump run both areas? If so you can split the line and add a shut off valve to the bed coolant.

Sounds like a Hard water issue.

 

Have you tried adding Calcium to the coolant to knock it down in the meantime?

If you can't shut it off, ask your coolant rep for an anti-foaming agent to pour in every once in a while.

I think it is soft water that causes foam. Adding the calcium would increase the hardness.

There should be a separate pump for the "Bed Coolant". Look for a valve on that and reduce the pressure.

+1 Coulston. If you have hard water, that white stuff you pull out of your faucet head screen is calcium....but I don't know if hard water makes for more foam or less?
