Surface High Speed (raster) ???

I am trying to surface multiple surfaces using this technique. I get the toolpath to look great! The only proble is the tool rapids into the part to start! Is there any control or setting that I am overlooking to adjust the tool up? Thanks for the help!

set your leads to stay off the part. you do not have to use the arc just the linear entry exit

Yep, i tried that but i get an entry and exit all up and down the sides of my surfaces!..is there another way?

Sounds to me like your going to have to extend an existing or create a new surface just for the lead in...

Keith , yes it is with retrace set to min and cut set to zig zag. the pic actually had 2 toolpaths tuned on a surface finish parallel and the hs raster. thats why it shows the extra retracts..............but the arc on and off is the raster.

Yep, i am using zig zag, the toolpath just comes off the part on each edge feeding at the plunge feedrate and then back onto the surface again. It moves off the exact amount i have the linear exit/entry set at.

Traditional SF Parallel will give you more control on approaches than Raster (IMO) and will easily do what you need. Feed on to the part by manipulating the directional control, which by the way will let you approach from the inside, and on a angle, as well as setting a plunge feed rate that differs from your machining feed rate, and you should be good to go.

how can you change the toolpath from feeding down on the ends and sides of the attached bitmap. this is a raster path

so to stop the tool from interpolating down past the surface, you need to add a boundary. worked fine

you just can't use it on a flat type surface.
