Help on machine simulation

Help with this one. Newbie to the whole machine simulation, thought I would mess around with mach sim and I cant even get the edit button to ungray itself to create a new machine. Opened up well and the background looks nice, saved a new machine and put in the same folder with the same name like the instructions told me so. Still can't do diddly squat. Please tell me I'm a tard and I'm doing something wrong. Thanks.......

its hard to say if you're doing anything wrong....not much to do wrong though...did you restart x5? besides that there is not much to say to help...should be able to hit the edit button

So your in machine sim, you click on the "machine" tab, then at the top of that window area you have icons for new/open/save/edit/show information. Those are greyed out?

Only the edit machine tab is greyed out. Thanks for your guys interest and help.

right clik and turn on the 'mastercam simulation' toolbar.

I am using X5. I went home last night and wanted to kick myself, it popped into my head last night I never went into customize and looked in there. I came in this morning and went there and it was there.

Sorry it took a while to repost. Problem was that u cant do any edits to machine if you open machine sim as a regular application, you have to open mcamx5 first and run it thru that. sorry for the confusion but everything works well now.

Here's a quick way to modify an existing Machine. Open the stl file and mirror the Machine component (xform stl)

 

See the attached file for a 3 Axis Machine with the Rotary 4th Axis on the right side of the Machine.

 

The MCX-5 file is a test file from one of our course exercises.

 

Install the folder into your Moduleworks\MachSim folder.

That's it!! i'll have to analyze the machine build, i also started mirroring the stl files but the rotary table still ended up on the left but i got the spindle pointing to the left. i was partially there at least. thank you Derek

Hello Shazam,

 

Yes, it is a bit of a bear to modify a machine as you are only working with STL's. The "Help" that can be accessed inside Machine Sim is very good and was very helpful to me.

I cant find the Moduleworks\MachSim folder anywhere. I downloaded the file into another folder for now, but i cannot open it. any suggestions?

Hello Dodgerfan,

 

Look in the "\shared mcamx5" folder. From the X5 top menu: File > Open Shared Folder.

I made a VMC with the rotary on the right, and have copied it to the FTP site.

file name is "MachSim-Haas_VF2.zip" and it is in the folder "X5_Files"

this is a Haas VF2 with HRT210 rotary.

I zipped up all files in that folder.

9 files in folder named \moduleWorks\Machsim\Haas_VF2\

 

Maybe there is a corrupt file. Drop me a message @ bryanj@@@@mlc-cad.com and I will send files via email.

I have discovered, that if the Folder name and the XML file name are not an exact match, you will get this message.

JP.....can you email me yours. i must be blind today, because i swear that my xml and folder name are exactly the same. i want to compare your folder to my folder.
