Let's keep the redneck jokes to a minimum as to not offend anybody down here. Just because down here:

 

The monitor is up on blocks.

Outgoing faxes have tobacco stains on them.

The six front keys have rotted out.

The extra RAM ports have truck parts stored in them.

The numeric keypad only goes up to six.

The password is "Bubba".

There's a gun rack mounted on the CPU.

There's a Coors can in the cup holder(CD-ROM drive).

The keyboard is camouflaged.

The mouse is referred to as a "critter".

It Brings out the best in everybody. Now, since we have every bodies attention,you all are going to love this, I am a CATIA V5 user and think it is the best I have seen so far.

We were just trying to get the new kid linned out

with a post. By the way, speaking with your local MasterCam dealer about a post is like asking your four year old how to change a tire.

These guys are sales man nothing more. We have decided to buy IMSpost. It will build all the 5-Axis posts we need for MasterCam for the price of just one MasterCam Post

As for you being a Catia user, sorry to hear that. And that makes you special because??? With that being said, we can do anything your CATIA CAM can do for about 1/3 the price, and about 50% faster.

You've got a lot more to worry about than the cost of a post. LOL, catia. That's gonna cost you the price of all the 5 axis posts you'll ever need, plus a few seats of MC Level 3 Solids with ALL the options. LM(Horses)AO. The funny part is, the 'new kid' is gonna be programming circles around you and your 'catia' in no time.

 

I'll wager that by the end of the year Squatting Dragon Hidden Email will be looking over his shoulder at the 'new kid', thinking "Why can't Catia do that?"

 

Or "Why is Catia taking so much longer?"

Yeah, we're only hearing 'his' half of the story too so you KNOW he done pissed off his local dealer. I'll bet they charged Squatting Dragon Hidden Email DOUBLE because he was such a jerk to them. Talking down to the lowly MC Dealer gets you everywhere.

Dont forget the cost of maintenence on teh third party post builder. From my (albeit limited experience with post products - we had Catia and Intercim at my previous employer) You probably will have to write some custom code to really get the 5Ax post to work even with the post builder. Although they do much of the work. The postbuilder guys dont work for free either.

 

Personally I do however agree that in the end with multiple machines and multiple systems the 3rd party post product is probably the way to go.

 

It is amazing though that you will shellout the Catia Dough and come in here EXPECTING freebies on your first post without even checking out how the forum operates. Im sure the Catia folks will provide you with much more free help than we ever could anyway (yeahhh right). Of course you could participate in their users group forum (do they still charge for that ?).

 

But thanks for the entertainment.

I have been a MasterCam user for about five years and we switched to CATIA V5 at work about 2 years ago. Yes James, it makes me special. Any Ways, this hole thing has been a test to see what people on this board realy knew.

It is best to ask profesionals for post advice.

Look Fire Breather, to get information in here is relatively easy. Ask a direct question like "Can I get my 5-Axis Code to output...", and if so, what do I need to change/add? That's it. You don't need to come in all "Down with your bad self".

 

You know, we give our free time in here because we enjoy helping others. We could be doing other things but we choose this. I'd rather leave the flame thrower in the garage, but some people just gotta talk trash to feel good about themselves so out it comes and it's too bad.

Running through all of these posts has sort of been entertaining. Dragon - you definitely have some potential here in the future, your last post has piqued my interest as well.

 

I do not believe CNC Software aka Mastercam deliberately hides anything other than the primary source code. This can be highly subjective since apparently, the visual basic side of things tends to open up the accessibility – the “C” hooking available since version five lends itself to slick scripting as well.

 

You are facing the wrath you seek and yet you seem to know this.

My question back to you is did you have any input on the purchase of Catia? and, why not ProE or UG? – Why this decision with Catia?

 

Rekd & Bullines seem to be highly active with VB, Andrew leans towards 5axis ProE, and Dave Thompson at In-House Solutions is the constant for 5axis programming in the forum. - sorry if I have overlooked somebody.

 

I know that it is a tough decision to put your email address up – I get close to 50 emails a day for xxxx enlargement and Viagra and it’s an annoyance to wade thru and delete – this is a conscious decision that I am willing to tolerate. (I will always be visual and available no matter what the spam cost) but that's just my own opinion.

 

The ominous 5axis stuff is a tough go for all professionals alike.

 

One last thing – welcome to the forum. you might also want to consider giving out your favorite recipe prior to asking some of these easy questions.

Register yourself once more with a less frightening name ,read the FAQ and be a good boy(behave yourself) ,cause GOD only knows where you will be in the couple of years and I doubt that you will have your sweetheart Catia there and may be this forum would help you a few times.

But anyway the Mastercam and it`s members forum can stand the blow you think you make!
