Contour with window chaining problem

So since I've installed X5, I havent engraved any text until today. I created my letters, chose contour, chain>window, dragged the window around my letters, selected approx starting point, but instead of showing the chain thru all my letters, the dialog said, select contour chain 1.

 

Is there a chain setting that I should be looking for?

Just used it yesterday with no problems.

Sure, but I've just been using made up MCX Box Font test text. That's all that's in this file.

I get that too. It will work if I set the chain manager to 3d. Even though the text(geometry)is in 2d and on the c-plane.

The only time I have a problem is with the window selection option.

try changing to 3d mode from cplane in the chaining dialog box

Thanks, ajmer, tried that, no change. I've tried everything in the "inside" dropdown, and I haven't changed any chaining options. I'm going to try on another system.

Did you use create drafting note or create letters?

Create letters works fine for me, but if you used drafting note you will have to break the drafting into lines.

Thanks everybody. I checked another computers chaining options, and mine didn't have closed/open chains selected in the masking. Works now! case closed
