Rough contour question

When doing a rough contour feature is there a way to minimize air cuts? In Surfcam they have an option of selecting both the part and material which minimizes the additional air cuts. Here's a .png file of both the part and material outlined. Sorry for the lame questions but I'm trying to self learn Mastercam to get one of seats updated to X5.

Trevor's got the right answer.. I replied from my Droid and the attached jpeg doesn't show up on the Droid.

I just tried 2D Core Mill the other day and I did not like the path at all - very abrupt changes in direction, far from smooth. Maybe I missed a setting somewhere. I ended up using 2D Dynamic instead and got a much smoother path. I think I needed to check “use core pass” or something like that. I can’t remember the wording and I don’t have my sim at home now to look.

Thanks for the replies guys. Unfortunately I don't have any of the Dynamic options available to me in X3, I have core and area mill available to me. I did have a chance to play with X5 a bit at my friends shop and it seems as though it's quite an upgrade from X3. I played around with dynamic core a bit and I really liked the tool path. One thing I didn't like was all the extra geometry I had to draw up in order for the operation to recognize the boundaries, at least from what I shown.

Thanks again for the help. I just need to play around with things a bit and experiment with the different features.

Oh yeah, does anyone ever have any problems with verification blending issues? On one feature I was using two tools blending to a linear cut and verify showed a pronounced step. I initially thought it was a mistake on my part but after verifying the numbers all was okay. Just seemed a little weird.

Edit: I found the answer to my own quesiton in the configuration> verification settings> tool tolerances. I changed it .001 and all is fine now, thanks.

I cant see your entire profile in that photo, but from what I can see I dont see any need to create extra geometry to use dynamic core. I would suggest creating a line to close off the slot but it wouldnt be necessary.

The same would go for 2d High Speed core although I have never been a big fan of the 2d high speed core tool path. It saves time from creating extra geometry but creates WAY too much extra movement and code for Z axis lead ins. Some times in previous versions of X your best option unfortunately is to create extra geometry to get the desired tool path.
