X5 5 axis swarf toolpath

X4 used to have a tab that you could switch the 5axis swarf toolpath from climb cut to zig-zag cut. Is this not an option anymore?

hmm, never knew that was there.

 

Never looked for an option but looking at X5, yeah it looks like the option is gone.

I just spoke with one of the techs at CNC and he is going to dig deeper into the issue.

Now when you open an X4 file its locked in zig-zag, you cant change it.

Don't know if it got dropped on purpose or by accident.

I never use it, or I'd have missed it and reported it during the beta cycle... but obviously some people do use it

and I can see where it could be a useful option.

It wouldn't hurt to email [email protected] and request that it be restored.

Man was I about to get upset as I really like this feature. Then I remembered this changed a little while back. In X5 if you look under the "Custom App." tab there is the Swarf Milling toolpath type that has what you are looking for.

use parallel to multiple curves. (really same path) but with all the options

swarf is turning into a simplified path.(like port expert) They removed a lot of functions to make it easy

 

forgot, go to custom apps and use the swarf there

Please look at file I loaded that shows the wierd results i get when I try this toolpath,

 

Copied to X5 folder Swarf_Dan.Mcx_5, File was to big to attach in message.

somthing goofy with the surface. take a look at what I did

Swarf_Morgh.mcx5

 

I added a curve at the top of the surface to help control the tool axis. Then I used morgh between to curves. Use your margins to control 1st and last cut

I was told it was removed on purpose and was told it would probably will not return. I exported an old tool path and import it whenever I need it.
