Old machine with Fanuc Drives

Recommended Posts

We have a Old Sharnoa with Fanuc Drives (A06B-6047-H003 Velocity Control Unit)

started it up yesterday and when referencing the machine, X ran away...

then drive faults out... position indication on control is not displaying the real locations...

tried several times... left it on over night..... still no go.... X moves as it wants not as commanded.

what do you think...... Encoder or drive failure ???

It sure looks like a faulty encoder, but before you go that way, try resetting the encoders. I had something similar happen to me before and here is how we reset it:

1) Turn the machine off, include the back switch and wait for at least 1 minute

2) Turn the back switch on and go to the front of the machine

3) Release the Emergency button

4) Press and hold both the letter "O" and "CAN" keys on the controller

5) Turn the machine back on *** Keep those keys hold 'til the positions screen come up or machine is completely back up***

Once the machine is completely started, send your axes to home position and see if that does the trick.

Good luck.
