Threadmill

This is my first time threadmilling in mastercam. I have a form tool for this special thread. It's a .200 pitch thread right hand thread and the major dia is 6.448 dia. The tool is cutting to small of a dia. If I change compensation type to off, then it cuts to large of a dia. I need to use cutter comp. Also, after I set the major thread dia it is greyed out. I don't know how to make it active.

Your undefined thread hob is defined as Ø1.00" but its drawn as Ø.500"

Personally, I just define thread hobs as an endmill of the correct diameter.

I don't get pretty pictures with I run verify, but the output is good

You have Wear enabled so you will get CDC output

The major diameter is usually set buy the diameter of the arc you select

but the arc in your file is 6.319" dia.

Not sure what's going on there

Thanks Gcode. I changed the tool definition to .500 and that did it. I don't know why it wouldn't input the correct number.
