So I am browsing through my software package looking for the best possible 5 axis toolpath for this job I am working on and there at the end of the page in the bottom right corner is.........Blade Expert................AHHHHH YES.......that is exactly what I need....OMG!!!!!!!!....it looks perfect for the application that I am doing ...I double click on it.....nothing ....Huh?....whut?......I hit escape....Msg comes up...invalid code?.....wait...WHAT!!!!!????????....I feel like a dog whom has just been teased with a dangling roast that just got ripped out of my jaws and was thrown in the campfire....So its call my reseller time and find out what is what...or is it what it is or why a full 5 axis seat still needs access codes to tool paths ....I will keep you informed ;)

Why did my post get modified? This is BS, This board sucks just as bad as the software.

Not certain of the word you typed but if it is caught in the "naughty word" filter it changes it.

No one likely did it on purpose.

So relax Francis

If you think the price of Blade expert is expensive - look into specialist software for Impellers.

Blade expert is very good. It is very expensive, and it's no-where close to the price of some other very good impeller and turbine programming software.

I can only suggest to people that they check out all their options if they do a lot of impeller/turbine work

ok ....so what is difference from all the other toolpaths ie Blade Swarf, Floor surface with/without curve from this one?....and why does it not exist in Mastercam itself and is an addon?...I have to ask as we specifically bought this software for items that not too many machines can produce other than impellars but with the same technical applications.

I dont mind programming this step by step but would it not be considered the same as 3D surfacing ?

You see I got this 6 year old asking me all these questions and he doesnt understand the grab for money concept thing...He just wants to program the part with a reliable software and the only way I can keep his wages down is to provide him with an "Easy" button in the toolpath directory :p

The blade expert as I understand it uses different algorithms than the multiaxis toolpaths.

I used an impeller sample file from my multiaxis class that demonstrates the advanced multiaxis settings and run the blade expert on it. Using the advanced multiaxis toolpaths running a combination of morph between curves & morph between surfaces, it takes three toolpaths to rough the walls and the floor of one section.

Using the blade expert it took one toolpath, I did not have to create morph curves or tool control geom and the walls & floor were roughed within 0.015 according to verify stl file compare. The advanced multiaxis tool path rough result varies in thickness because of the limits in the tool axis control.

I've worked on these types up cuts without Blade expert and have run into simalar issues. It really does take quit a bit of advanced knowledge on what can be done with MC to succesfully pull off toolpaths like this without the easy button option. Same goes for Port Expert.

The only thing I can say about doing it the long and painfull way is that you may have more options with tool control. It's just going to take longer to go through the process, even if you have a good programmer.
