Lead In/Out not working on tangent

I am using mastercam x5 mill lvl 3 and anytime i try to use lead in/out on tangent it doesnt work. It works on perpendicular but not on tangent. Has anyone ran into this before?

Have you tried unchecking "Gouge Check"?

Are you contouring inside or outside? I haven't had an issue with either one but I have no idea of what your geometry is nor your cutter size, arc size, and lead in.

I use 0 for the arc and the lead in/out lines come out tangent to the geo I chained

Tangent doesn't work inside or outside nomatter what size lead in i have. Pretty much just plunges on and off the part. I haven't ever had this problem before either. Just started at a new shop and I'm starting to think the previous programmer made some changes before he left.

Post a screenshot or put a file on the FTP, somethings wrong.

I can't think of any possible "changes" that would make this not work

Is the geometry a line? May sound silly but can't very well be tangent to a line without an arc.

Do you have a sweep angle? Mine won't work without one.

sweep angle works like sweep angle should, i am trying to use a 1 inch indexable cutter with a .75 line and arc.

how do i go about attatching a mcx file?

right next to the "post" button, hit "use full editor" then you will see the box to browse to your file. once you have your file selected, hit "add to post"

the lead in/out is tangent on that file, extend the length of the lead in/out (to like 10 inches) you will see it... the radius of that arc is so big it just looks like its coming down right on the part.

Your sweep is set to 0.

change to 90 and it works fine

The settings above are what I would use for something like that... Here is another pic.

Even with the sweep at zero, the lead in/out lines were still tangent...

It works for me on that file, I did a 45 arc sweep and it works, then I did a 0 arc sweep and it still works. Note: your Arc radius will not work unless you give it a arc sweep angle. To check your system try a large amount like 200% of the tool with a 45 arc sweep and you will see if your system or not.

if you're taking over someone else's Mastercam setup, you should spend some time reviewing default settings...

or resetting them all to fresh install default.

He may have some settings that could really bite you if you don't know they are there
