I would put a shortcut on your desktop for the directory of your post and m/c aand control def files.

I found it very useful as you'll be back and fro until you have it all set up right.

Then you'll have to back it up, and it's easy to find.

I did like 9 where the files were easier to find.....stupid windowze :D

How do you tell mill from lathe?

In Mill, the tool spins.

In Lathe, the part spins.

You should be good to go now!

I don't think it matters where you put the MD, CD, & post. You just have to point mcam to wherever you put them.

Right on the top bar.. (file, edit, view.......)

Go to Machine type

Mill (or lathe)

manage list.

add your file (if it's not there already)

then go back to....

Machine type

Mill (or lathe)

and pick your MD

That will get you set to your MD

Then go to

settings

machine def

you will see "control def" in the upper right of the window

hit the browse button and find your CD.

That will get you set to your CD

Now for the post.

settings

machine def

hit the picture of the control (red & green buttons on the pic (icon) for control def

hit the button for post processors

hit the button for add files

browse to & select your post

once you select it and hit "open"

you should see it in the list.

green check out

now you have to select it again from the dropdown just to the right of the "post processors" button

green check out of the control def

green check out of the machine def

You should be all set, you can verify all files are active as Hardmill noted above.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY easier than V9.

pfffffft.

In you operation manager, open files in the properties dropdown.

Youll see in there where you can search for your mach and control defs.

PEACE :D

LOL wheres the operation manager? Is that the white box on the left I immediately clicked the X on? How do I get it back?

All these years!

Now when I get 5 axis I can really chop some cherry trees down!

OK looking at it now. I'll have to admit it is getting easier having entered it with a more open mind, I'm already making surfaces and all kinds of geometry. Just no toolpaths yet.

I did the first step and since all 3 files I was given were in the same folder all the rest of the steps were already loaded with a file. Just have to practice!
