Programming in space, create a Solid Layout.

HI, I am programming a part in 3D space and would like to create a wireframe view with the Layout utilty. The utility is creating the view on what used to be the top view, instead of what is now the new WCS.

It's been a while but I seem to recall that being a limitation of solid layout.

it always creates in the standard top view.

When you create your layout, you can delete the top view, and insert your WCS view. Save layout as favorite, if this is how you allways work..

Im talking about where the view is created not which view it creates. How would you do what I want, I was taught never to chain on the solid as if it goes corrupt I will lose all toolpath associativity.

So what is the difference if you loose lets say the wire frame. this just silly

Oh and how offent folks have you had a solid go corrupt?

Are you trying to get a 2d profile from the solid using Layout?

Yes, boundaries, center points, you name it; its just easier with the layout tool. Not everything works as we would like though. What do you do when you need these types of wireframe Jay ?

I Always use Xform Project. You can window select from a side view and then delete duplicates...can be a bit quicker

Does it project to the current Z level ? I have never used it.

Yes it does by default, can edit how far you want to project in Z, or to plane, or to surface, and you can assign it a colour and level number too. Very effective.
