best source for hardware?

I know this is a little off-topic but I am starting a production job where I need to provide assemblies. I was curious what the best source is for fasteners, etc in volume.

McMaster Carr

We get all our low volumes from Mcmaster carr for ease of ordering. For higher qty stuff we get it from Briton Best.

I always found MSC supply to be a bit cheaper than McMaster-Carr, but it depends on the product, quantity, and quality you desire...

Yup.. McMaster Carr is very convenient.. but rarely has the best price.

A great local place is Mt Hood Fasteners. They stock a ton, great discounts at volume, and source anything unusual you need. It's right in my neighborhood. I could make a delivery to you, and see your new machines.

 

They also ship.

I work in a manufacturing and assembly environment. If you want the best price for large quantities it may be tough to beat Fastenal.

Find a local industrial supply company and develop a relationship with them. I had a local supply company that was charging me next to nothing for boxes of screws from Brighton Best. Even though they are imported I never had a problem with them vs Holo Chrome. Develop the relationship and you will see that you can get more than hardware at good discounts. I go to McMaster Carr as a last resort (even though they always have what I am looking for they are usually the most expensive).

we were using fastenall for all our hardware but by accidentwe sent a rfq to our DGI rep and he filled the order for 25% less cost and we have been using him for everything since. that used to be doall.
