Also move the bar to the outside place to hold it verse were it is if you can get the reach on the head. If the bore is bigger than the head think about hanging the bar out of the side of the head if you can get to the bottom. Like suggested shorted the tool. Also might think about a counter weight on the head to allow it to be more balanced in your cut. Best way to check on center is to go into a bore and make sure your tool is pointing normal or even maybe a little a head of center. If to far back you create what is called a negative cutting condition and put more pressure on the tool. The more it is turned in front of the cut without rubbing the back side you create more of a positive cutting condition,. Straight on with be considered a neutral cutting position. Make sure you are using a boring cycle if not then G1 your move into the bore and G1 out.
