drilling solids

It is a 4 axis app, also the machine is only capable of indexing to the nearest degree.

currently I create a curve on the edge of the hole, break into 3 pieces, create arc three points, then create a cplane/tplane at the nearest degree, then drill (the material is sheet metal, the error between the actual angle and created angle is not a problem)

thanks for your help

I downloaded and tried the C-hook on 9 solids,

I kept geeting the following error "sp-curve lies off surface".

After running it I had my original 9 solids and 189 surfaces and 148 trimmed surfaces, no arcs.

maybe it will not work on V8 ?

Not having much luck here. Made a solid disk and extruded holes outward and inward. Drilling wants to go outward no matter what. Posts ok though. eek.gif Reverse dosn't work with blind holes.

Use the 5ax drill then use lines as the control paying attention the direction the arrow then you can go from there. I found it easy to go into #D cplane and create line betewwn the soild egde d onot have have arc there matercam will ntoice the cneter of an edge if you are close to it. The whole soild will lit u pthat is ok then creat point center then conttect the dots. I did a part with over 300 holes on a tube that where all different and used 5axdrill and it worked fine. You can use all 5th axis toolpaths on a 4th axis just make sure you check the 4axis box in the selceted toolpath. If you can send the fiel to Jay I am 100% sure he can point you in the right direction.
