Naming Levels

Is there a way to name my levels by default? For example when I'm using the EA Manager and I want different entities on different levels. Is there a way for level 1 to have a constant name (arcs), level 2 (splines), etc. Basicaly what I want is for the level to have a name corresponding to the EA Manager.

Well yes you create a filke that is like your start up file then everytime you start a job you do a save as a new name but I would probally put a back up soemwhere no those times when you would rewrite it. I know this is probaly not the excact thing you want but a way I can think of to do it.

Brain freeze here... It's been a rough week. I created a file with named levels only and no geometry and I merged them. It'll do for now. Just got my books on VBScript and I'm sure there will be a way there in the future.

Create a VB script that you will put in your Run At Startup with something like this..

SetLevelName 1, "Arcs"

SetLevelName 2, "Lines"

SetLevelName 3, "Points"

SetLevelName 4, "Surfaces"

Don't be shy, run C-Hooks, select Mcamvb.dll, select new, erase everything in the new script, then paste the code above and click run. Then open the Levels Dialog and see the results. Very easy.

Now if only I knew how all this works it would be a different story...

 

Per Mick's (CNC Sofware) recomendation I bought " Teach Yourself Windows Script Hosting". I know it won't teach me everything, but it's a start at least to understand what does what and why. Can't wait to start reading.

 

Thanks again for the quick solution 'Rekd, and I'm sure there will be plenty of questions from my end in the future on VBScript.

Once you get the levels named as you like, right mouse click in level manager (save named levels). Next time you open a new job right mouse click again in the level manager and pick (get named levels).

You can also save the named levels from a part to an external file. In the Level Manager (the "Levels" button or Alt-Z) you can right click and choose "Save Named Levels". Later, when you have a new or different part, you can go in there again and choose "Get Named Levels".
