Break Count Exceeded

I'm trying to download a file to a machine. Okuma MU500 with a P300M control.

I'm getting a "break count exceeded" error in Cimco DNC Max. This is a straight RS232 transfer of a 128k programme.

Can anyone tell me what "Break Count Exceeded" means, and where would I look to try and rectify this? There is plenty of room in the memory, and I can transfer the programme via USB or DNC/DT and it works fine.

If case anyone wonders, we use RS232 for production file transfers, as the barcode system for remote request uses RS232 :)

I'm changing the subject, but why don't you have that OSP-300

hooked up to your network?

I routinely run 20-30 meg files on my OSP-200.

That would be impossible using RS-232

G, as I mentioned in my first post:

These are production files that the operator can request via barcode. For large files such as dies etc, we use the network (DNC/DT) and that works fine, but they are used under stricter control :)

The break count exceeded sounds like an error reported by the DNC software.

In the Cimco edit and DNC-Max software you can choose to disable this behavior by setting the "Break after receiving characters" value to zero.

Thanks Allan, I will check that out in the morning :)

I had the same issue a while back with a Fadal using the RS-232 connection.

Very similar to Mick's situation in that some files would transfer properly and some would not.

Thanks, Allan.

I will check that setting as well.
