Where old machines go to die....

I'm looking for option to offload our old 3 machine HMC cell. Does anyone know a good machine recycler that buy machines to tear down and sell for parts?

most of the old machines we have rotated thru-out my days in the trade are either sold , traded - in or scrapped .  the last cnc that was rotated out was sold to a fella in either Washington or Oregon for parts as he was rebuilding a similar model .

I seen an article somewhere of a shop that buys castings and makes new machines from them. I believe in the Portland area.

In Chi town it goes as :

You call your service guys that have been "bandaid ing" your machine keeping it going

and say take whatever you want...it's going.

(They cut the controller off and rip out the cards from the cabinet).

Next the scrap guy comes in with there own "Rigging" just like when your machine was moved in day one

and they take it away for free.

Yeah they will get rid of it for free , that's it.

If your buying a new machine from someone they will take your old machine away at the same time "For free".

 

I was able to outright sell a few clunkers to the cnc repair guy that serviced them (bandaid)

For $500.00 a piece, We had a pizza party for 172 people.

What kind of machines. Some MTB will buy old machines back to have spare repairable eboards and drives.

I might pick one good machine, inventory parts and scrap the other two, shrink cell down to 6-12 pallets.

It's a buyers market out there and let the buyer beware. If you don't ask for service records up front you get what you deserve.

there is a shop in my area that buys and rebuilds machines , not sure if he sells them or keeps them for their own use , they do gear cutting as well as cnc .
