Custom groove tool

Need help, created custom groove tool. When using it does not generate tool path using both sides of insert it treats it as a single point insert.

File attached. Tool geometry is on level 2. Part configuration created to test the custom tool that is needed to verify tool clearance when working in actual part. Any help would be appreciated.

Why are you using a custom tool then? That is a basic tool defined through the tool manager in lathe.

I looked at your part....I do not see any toolpaths.

 

I also do not see where you have set up the lathe module correctly to even begin to make a cut on the part you have.

I cleant your file, tweak your tool definition. I think there was a WCS lathe problem... not sure. I attached mc-x9 file and a .mcx file i made with Mastercam X3 version.

The file was for uploading as requested the tool paths where not saved when. It was uploaded

You can modify the parameters of the tool to match  your needs, custom tools are only if you HAVE to IMHO.

Thanks David, your help help on this is greatly appreciated. I often import tools using the tool manufacturers cad models so that I can guarantee to a higher level of confidence that there will not be clearance issues when working with parts that have confined areas instead of using the standard tools that are in the Mastercam library
