SolidWorks 2004 conversion

I have SolidWorks 2004. MC cannot open these sldprt files. It will open 2003 files without any problems.

 

What can I do about this? Is there an upgrade, patch or what?

There is a patch available from your VAR, SW04Convert.zip. You could save it as an X_T.

I am converting the files with x_t

When you are in the File Save window for parasolid

export from SolidWorks, click "Options",

then the "Output as Version" dropdown.

Change that from 15 to 14. Mastercam can open a V14 parasolid but not a v15. I just got my SW 2004

and haven't tried the patch yet.

I am not having problems with X_T conversions, but rather import without making the conversion from SolidWorks.

on this website. They are exe files so it will take Admin permissions to install them.

Would it be bad of me to point out that MasterCAM has sucussfully navigated two updates in Inventor (currently at R8) without needing to update MasterCAM's .IPT translator? That Design Center stuff is pretty cool...

File|Converters|Autodesk|Read File

Select .IPT from the drop-down list

Select the .IPT file you want to import

The import dialog comes up at this time. Set your settings to whatever you want, then import.

 

If you don't have Inventor R8 installed on your system, make sure you have the latest version of Design Tracking installed on your computer. The V7 version is avalible from Autodesk's web site. I'm not sure where the V8 version is. If you need it, I'll call Autodesk and ask 'em where they put it.
