Are these good?  High Quality?  Work well?  I think they would work well on the face of my 2-sided tombstones.  I need something that is low profile to keep wide work within my work cylinder on the horizontal machine.  The plan would be to bolt these directly to the tombstone. instead of a sub-plate.  I have Toolex vises on the back side of these tombstones but they are just a little too tall for some of the wide parts so the ends are outside of the safe zone.

What is the grid on your tombstones? Stevens is showing a 5" standard grid.

I bought the tombstones blank so it is wide open.

They look okay - never used them. I'd want to know the pull down works well though.

I have used them on large verticals, to hold fixtures to the table or large chucks of material. Put as many bolts through the vise halves as you can, its a lot of force. Really nice quality.

We have a customer that uses them on their Okuma MB-5000H's with Stevens tombstones. They use Mitee-Bite TalonGrip vise jaws for holding raw stock. I love using those jaws! The clamps work great for them and have never heard any issues so far.

This was back about 15 yrs ago

They were great then i imagine they have to be even better now.

 

We would generally see a few tenths (.0003) lift on the moveable jaw side
