Free Float & self centering

Looking to see if anyone knows of a source for free floating/self centering clamps or even a smallish vise?

I've looked at the Carr-Lane Swiftsure stuff but not looking to get into hydraulics

Looking to keep it manually actuated

I am starting with a 5th axis vise but I have 2 locations that need support, as the 5th axis provides centering on the lower section, I am looking for something that has some free floating/centering ability for the top...

Grabbing a forging and I don't want to introduce stress/twist......

All of the above is good self-centering but I don't see anything manual that has free floating ability  :(

I think you could take a self centering vise and make your own center piece and screw to allow it to float, and then add some set screws in the jaws to clamp against the rails to lock them down after clamping.  The center piece of the Lang is removable.  I don't know of any off the shelf that will float.  Alternatively use a stock self centering vise and put the float into the mounting of it.

They offer the components separate and you can do what every you want with them. Have had many customers use their hardware and others to come with with what they need for their applications. They can word a NDA anyway they want, but unless you are modifying their components for resell than you are stuck. If you are modifying things for your needs then you have no issue doing that.

Notwithstanding the License, Licensee shall not directly or indirectly: (1) decompile, disassemble, analyze or otherwise reverse engineer any portion of any Model(s); (2) modify the Model(s) in any way or create derivative works; (3) further distribute the Model(s) to any third party outside of your company; (4) distribute any enhancements, improvements or derivative works based upon the Model(s) or any product of the Company; (5) copy, review or analyze the Model(s) for the purposes of creating or which results in the creation or development of other technology, or other tools, products or services, which are functionally, visually or otherwise identical or similar to the Model(s) or any products of the Company; (6) remove or obscure any Company copyright, trademark, patent, and/or other proprietary rights notices; (7) grant any sublicenses or any other subsidiary uses of the Model(s); and/or (8) sell or otherwise receive direct or indirect financial benefit from the Model(s).

Key points:

You cannot analyze the model.  The would include taking measurements to determine suitability for purpose.

You cannot modify the model.  This would include adding a mounting hole or clearance cut to improve suitability for purpose.

You cannot receive indirect financial benefit from the models.  This would include any use of the model in a profitable venture.

Those are not reasonable clauses.

Well then in all reality you would never be able use it how would you be able to adapt anything to use with it. Totally unenforceable and a completely funny to read. In essence they are trying to put themselves out of business the way I read it. You can just buy one and reverse engineer it and get everything you need.
