Hi,

How does windows 2000 works with mastercam??

for WIN 2K stuff.There have been lots of posts on the subject.

I upgraded my laptop a couple of weeks ago and have been happy with the results.

I've been using Win2k since October 2000 and I'm pleased with it.

I also have been using win 2000 and V8.1 without any problems. I did a have the system hang a couple of times with V8, but since installing V8.1 everything has been working OK.

Once I got the right video card, the only complaint I have it the 5 to 35 second hang time when I minimize Mastercam.

i am like james have been using sense last year and i love it..

used it with ver7 & up to 8.1.

i found mastercam to run faster on it.

I've been running Mastercam on Windows 2000 since Win2K was a month or so old. I've had no problems.

Win2K has been great with Mastercam 8 and 8.1 I don't miss the crashes and lockups that were routine with 98. It should be the preferred system in my opinion.

Win2K is the operating system that CNC Software uses in house which means that all development is now done in the 2000 environment; therefore, it should be the OS of choice.

I seem to be having more frequent crashes lately. I am running Win2K and MC8.1. Has anyone else had a problem in the file get area. If I try to get a file ,in certain situations, I get an application error mmc.exe, and it blows me out. MMC is Microsoft Mangement Console and there seems to be some conflict. Anyone else with this problem?

Have you run the repair off of the install CD? This fixes quite a few crash problems.

Just curious, what repair are you talking about? Is it on the MC CD or win2k CD?

When you put the CD in, you get a screen that has 3 install choices. If you choose "Install Mastercam". When the second selection screen comes up, you have the option to uninstall completely, reinstall, install into a new directory, or repiar an existing installation.

This is true only if you already have Mastercam installed already

I was getting the files from a server but with the consistent crashing I moved my files to get locally. This didn't make it very much better. Yesterday I crashed three times. Two of the times it was the mmc.exe and once it was mc8.exe which appeared in the app error window that popped up. I ran the repair off of the MC8 install disk and as of yet I haven't crashed but I am working on a large tool and I have only needed to do a file get a couple times since.

I my self work off my server and had a few problems in the begining.

I maped the drive then every thing worked great.

Not sure if thats what helped but i do not have any problems now.

All the sever is win2k server like that alot to.

I am mapped to the server, but so far this morning I haven't crashed. So possibly, the repair disk worked.
