  1. Mac's are fantastic computers but it depends on what you are doing in mastercam. When you bootcamp (dual boot but made more apple sounding) it basically is just a regular Windows PC. You can use virtualization software like VMWare fusion or parallels desktop but you loose a lot of horsepower doing so. I ran Virtual machines for years because we have a Mac powered office. I set up Xgrid (distributed computing network) and ran my windows virtual machine on 12 different computers (lol I was the first to break the 30 second Mcam benchmark record. ON A MAC!!!). If you do basic 2d/3d milling, you can use a mac just fine. Any high resolution 3d or multi axis work its better off to buy a windows computer. I love my macs but they have their high points and low points. One of the biggest low points for mac though is engineering software. But autocad was just released on OS X so we might see CAD/CAM come back to the Mac platform (only if steve jobs doesn't make OS X a giant iPhone).

  3. I understand. I know sometimes nothing happens with 'edit common parameters', I do alot manually because the short cuts don't always work. Sometimes it only works when that group is (1st) at the Top, in the ops manager(is what i usually try first by moving the group there) let me know if you figure a solution. sometimes a reboot fixes the silliest of inconsistencies. 4. cunder When renumbering tools in a group I have to move the tool /machine group to the top of the Ops Manager for it to work. try that, see if it helps Rick

  7. I hit the 1 minute mark exactly this morning overclocked to 4.1 GHZ. Watching my task manager my processor use never went over 17% when running the benchmark. It also never used more than the 6 of the 12 cores? To the guys that are under a minute on the benchmark, how do you get it to use more of resources when processing? I have the affinity set for mastercam to use all 12 cores in the task manager. I also have 12 gigs of ram and when using mastercam it never used slightly over 2?

  8. Steve, You are welcome, anytime. You should read the "What's New" PDF. X4 MU3 has a lot of cool new stuff in it. Help > What's New Flyout Menu > What's New PDF The Lock Feedrates function is mentioned in the "Mastercam X4 Maintenance Updates" section.
