we have 8 seats of mcam here. after winxp sp3 update......2 seats of mcam won't open files. warnings or errors with these files. bnci.bin cfgstart.tmp lastchn.tmp any ideas on what the culprit is?

ARC MULTI EDIT.....that's what i needed -
replacing the machine definition file and knowing to delete all files in the temp folders really helps....thanks gcode and steve mastercam only locked up on me once in the last few hours so i'm encouraged about this fix. (not happy that it is happening to begin with though)

gcode you da'man.....20 minutes no lockup with many toolpath edits. does the machine def get corrupted?

when mcam is off.....these files are in temp.... bnci.bin cntrnci.tmp ids.tmp lastchn.tmp mcfd7.tmp tbstate.dat i deleted them......i restart mcam go to op manager....do anything with a toolpath and mcam locks up.

i have in temp folder..... folder 153430, containing these files bnci.bin 1/22/08 shortcut to tbstate.dat 5/12/08 tbstate.dat 1/22/08 files bnci.bin 5/12/18 ids.tmp 5/12/08 tbstate.dat 5/12/08 mastercam is running.....so these files should be present?

was this the cure for unhandled exception error? when i'm in operation mgr mastercam will lock up randomly. (not fun)

zero....3 years later and i am having this problem....exactly the way you describe it. my alt works fine in all other apps.....it's random in mcam. some users/developers may say...ahhh it's just the alt key...live with it....it's no biggie....well to me it is, i use the alt key constantly, when it doesn't work the way it is designed to...i have to alter my creating geometry or programming habits. it is 1 key out of many, but i wish there was a fix for it.

i closed down x2....no luck dimension parrallel still didn't work. i didn't want to but i did....i rebooted my system...now dimension parrallel works. what does a reboot reset to make dimension parrallel work now???...this is friggin' crazy!

i was able to this this before.....now for whatever reason mastercam won't let me create a parrallel dimension. plz....someone post the steps to create a parrallel dimension.

c-hooks are task specific add-ons designed to speed up creating geometry and programming in mastercam. hit alt-c to see list of chooks -

it's one of those things.....since you're not using solids you don't realize the benefits. once you start using it though you'll say "i should've switched years ago".

my steps.... mill toolpaths contour chain geo (blue geo in jp's picture) rotary axis axis sub...sub X axis...CW...rot dia 605.8 i try both unroll as well as no unroll, neither produces correct results active level = 210 color = 14

i followed your diagram......unrolled geo does not get created. i went thru it 4x.....no unrolled geo created. (not on a different level either) what am i missing??

jp...that looks like what i need thanks. but how do i do it....unroll the geo? i'm trying and it's not working?...i'm using the rolldie c-hook......any further guidance will be appreciated.
