file tracking & change recognition We are moving from 3 in-house cad/cam programmers to 6 in-house, plus 1 in Oregon & 1 in CT.
We will all save our mc9/mcx files to the same network drive. (and share all WIP etc...etc...)
Will this new feature FT & CR keep track of who is making changes and when?
we have xp media ctr in our conference room. it's great for photo's, slide shows, demos etc...etc..
advantage of media ctr running cad software = none
i don't recommend it at all.
to my understanding windows media ctr is like win xp pro minus some networking capabilities. it can be networked (as our is) but it's not as straight forward as it should be.
imo media ctr won't get the support that xp pro recieves either.

jammer.....yes

c gilson.....books are on order.....also i did your suggestions.....tool still on outside (should be inside).....i'll keep messing with parameters.
cheers to my local rep also......he sent me a few suggestions that I am going over.
thanks to all.....
Are there any MCAM books available that will explain 4th axis/rotary table setups???
I have the MCAM v9 mill tutorial and the MCAMX mill training tutorial....niether of these shows an example of what I'm trying to do.
A little guidance please........
I want to drop down into a cylinder and machine a step/ledge with 3 locking details.
This will be a 360° operation.
The part will be mounted to a 4th axis rotary table and endmill will be in a right-angle head.
You'll see 3 ops that I've tried to rotate about Z axis. (unsuccessfully)
My thinking is...if it doesn't backplot correctly...it won't code correctly.
I need the part to rotate and the cutter to move up & down in Z.
I've put a file on the ftp site. DEL93AM-0-T1.MC9
MC9 linky
I have MCX so if this is easier in MCX, don't hesitate to tell me.
I've searched all forums but all I could find was using a rotary table with the part mounted horizontally....this is a vertical setup.
I tried all suggestions in this subject...I can't get my post to debug in X.
I c-hooked 3 post.....2 converted fine, 1 is having EOB issues.
any ideas?
yes great Idea...I just spent days going over all the post about video cards and what's good or bad.
It would've been nice to have a certified list to choose from......a time saver!
(we're purchasing 3 new pc's here)In the end I went with the Quadro fx 1400 PCIE 128mb. I bought 3 from tigerdirect for $449/ea.
In the end I could've gone up to the FX 1500 or FX 3400 if there was documentation stating all the facts. It's hard to justify the cost when all you can say is.....well....this is what most users recommend on the Mastercam users site.
Peter Scott and James Mayette also offered valuable insight into my choice....I thank them.
Just in case your not aware using FTP is the same as
as drag-n-drop in Windows Explorer.
Once you log onto the FTP site...just drag-n-drop your files there....the whole process takes less than a minute. (unless your files are huge)

I'm new to macro programs....would this work???
code:
T0101
SPINDLE ON
BLAH BLAH BLAH
#1=1
WHILE[#1LE8.]DO1
XYZ MOVES
XYZ MOVES
XYZ MOVES
XYZ MOVES
Z CLRNC
#1=#1+1
END1
M5
G00G91Z0
This is suppose to loop the program 8x.
screen...configure...allocations
mine are set this way.
toolpath allocation = 50% total ram
database allocation = 25% total ram
I too get the out-of-memory error, but never on a regen only when i'm verifying large models.
hth,
make a list/spreadsheet.....whether you spend 30k or 200k make sure you get what you need/want.
[*]list what the machine must do/perform
list what the machine can do but not neccessary for the work you have
list options you may need/want for future.
list all specs - feeds/speeds/rpm/z axis thrust,
positioning...etc....etc
list local or national or international
(think spare parts and service)
If possible have ea vendor cut a part for you.
They can optimize speeds/feeds.
Don't get the machine.....then say I thought it could handle this operation
hth
don't use default values on roll page
you must have values in position, chordal dev, angle....(default is zero....won't work)
experiment with different values

Paul I'm getting closer....
this is my line of code
code:
"(CREATED ON - ",*month$ ,45,*day$ ,45,year$ ,")", e$
i get this...
(CREATED ON - 10.-12.-05) (not touching fmt)
or
(CREATED ON - 010-012-05) (block out #fmt)
the 2 periods or 2 zeroes are killing me now!
This is what I want......
(Created on - 10-11-05)
it outputs this......
(Created on - --05)
below is 4 lines of code that I edited.....none worked
code:
#"(CREATED ON - ",month$ ,45,day$ ,45,year$ ,")", e$ #was "(CREATED ON - ",*month,"-",*day,"-",*year, " )", e
#n$, "(CREATED ON - ", *smonth, "-", day$, "-", year$, ")", e$
#sopen_prn, "DATE - ", month$, "-", day$, "-", year$, sclose_prn, e$ #Date output as month,day,year - Ex. 02-12-05
"(DATE=DD-MM-YY - ", date, " TIME=HH:MM - ", time, ")", e
any other suggestions??
I have Pro-drill Catia v4/v5 tranlators for Mcam.
I can translate geometry/model exp files no problem.
My customer also sends me print/drawing files in the exp format. But these won't translate.
Can Pro-drill catia translator work on print/drawing files?
Is there a setting I need to adjust? (which I've tried) or is this something my customer needs to adjust?
