file on cadcams ftp site.....del-op3.mcx
the cutter gouges into the material at 2 corners.
i can't figure out why.
if anyone has time to take a peek i would be grateful.
-
jp & colin thanks for the education
-
ram ram & more ram......get the best video card
you can afford that is proven to work with mcam x2
sp1 as well as your os.
-
3rd.....i thought that earlier....but no, i have single lines (no stack)
-
auto highlite = on
still can't select line (the autocursor stays active) unless i hold "ctrl" down
-
thanks del.....disable autocursor works. now i can create angle dims.
is this how it should work?
this is a pia....imo.
if i hit/hold the "ctrl" key....this also disables auto cursor....still a pia, but tolerable
i liked it better the way it was.
to create an angle dimension the default was lines...as it should be.
-
for smart dimensioning line won't highlite
i hit L.....line still doesn't highlite
how do i disable auto cursor?
-
2 lines at Z0
top view
top cplane
top wcs
-
i can analyze angle.....lines are highlited
-
smart dimension with hot key "a" does not work either
-
create drafting dimension angular
it only lets me choose points.....lines won't
highlite....help was no help
what am i missing?
i closed then reopened mcam....nothing works.

yes keep 2d wireframe toolpaths till surface-contour (or other)can handle undercuts.
-
has lead-in/out been added to (x2 mr2 sp1) 2d swept surface?
i'm doing an undercut op and 2d swept seems to work better than surface-contour.
lead-in/out sure would be nice.

bruce, i e-mailed kmt, bill signorelli is the person i initially will be talking to.
i'll mention all the info you provided.
-
you guys are the best
i've searched & searched for an answer.
that little thing of not backplotting more than once was bothering the sh$t out of me.
again
-
can someone plz tell me how to backplot more than once without closing then re-opening backplot.
in v9...in backplot you (s)stepped thru your cutting moves..."backplot complete-ok"...hit "s" again and backplotted thru same ops again.
(you never left backplot till you escaped or chose a different option)
in x2 mr2 sp1....you (s)step thru your backplot.
when it's over i have to close backplot and reopen
if i want to backplot again.

i went to kmt site...it doesn't look like they do what i require.
i contacted them...i'll see what they have to say.
thanks for the info bruce.

yes it is clear....thank you.
i don't see the advantage of creating arcs this way though.
it made much more sense the way arcs were handled in v9. i never had to think about it before, all arcs followed the 0(3:00)-90(12:00)-180(9:00)-270(6:00) format. whether arcs were rotated or created on different planes all followed same format.
now w/x2 arcs have a mind of there own...i can measure an arc it will say start/180, end/409. (409????)
or
if i create arcs(curves)from a solid...one arc will be CW...the other CCW both with different start points.
to me this is a pia....now that i understand that arcs are handled differently i'll adjust and make do. as i stated before though it doesn't make sense.
-
a few hundred lbs of various sizes, probably
various grades as well.
toss it all in the dumpster.
my .02
-
i rec'd this warning the last 2 days (never had it before)
file save....then shut down/restart mastercam seems to cure it....what a pain
-
crazy....how are arcs handled differently?
i'd like to know...i may have to change how i create geometry.
-
anyone?
-
my style of creating geometry hasn't changed from v9 to x2 mr2 sp1.
if i never used combine views in v9 would i have to start using it now?
-
i narrowed down the problem further.
not for posting for geometry editing, arc properties
create-arc-polar
start angle = 0 (3:00)
end angle = 180 (9:00)
this works good 0=3:00, 90=12:00, 180=9:00, 270=6:00
if i create curve 1 edge (off a cylinder, the curve is an arc)when i go to edit the arc it's coordinates are different.
see doc attachment
0=9:00, 90=3:00, 180=6:00, 270=9:00
this is backwards.....why is this?
